Fair Wages, Unions & Workplace Safety

Kentucky’s workers are the backbone of our communities, yet politicians in Frankfort have chipped away at the protections that keep families safe and secure. In recent years, they’ve repealed prevailing wage laws, stripped away lunch breaks and rest periods, weakened overtime rights, and passed legislation like House Bill 398, which undermines Kentucky’s workplace safety program by forcing us to bare federal minimum standards. These attacks don’t just hurt workers. They hurt families, seniors, and communities that depend on fair pay and safe jobs.

I believe in prevailing wages* that ensure skilled workers are paid fairly for their labor. I believe in strong safety standards that protect every Kentuckian, whether they’re on a construction site, in a factory, or caring for patients in a senior center. I believe in the right to collective bargaining, because workers deserve a real voice at the table, one that allows them to negotiate fair wages and safe conditions. And I believe in dignity at work because no one should have to choose between a paycheck and their health.

When Frankfort politicians side with corporate lobbyists, workers lose. I will fight to restore prevailing wages, strengthen workplace protections, protect collective bargaining rights and ensure that Kentucky’s economy rewards hard work instead of cutting corners. Because when we protect workers, we protect families and we build a stronger Kentucky for everyone.

*Prevailing wage is the locally standard pay required on public construction jobs.

Fair wages.

Safe workplaces.

Kentucky values.

“When Frankfort politicians strip away lunch breaks, overtime pay, and prevailing wages, they’re not just attacking workers. They’re attacking families. I’ll fight to restore dignity at work, protect safety on the job, and make sure Kentucky’s economy rewards hard work, not corporate shortcuts.”
